Well done!

For those that have been asking about hand care, here is a great link to help.  I use this technique personaly and it works!

The following tips on hand care is courtesy of Crossfit Verve.

Ripping your hands is not cool, and doesn’t need to happen. Hand rips can take a while to heel, are painful, annoying and may prevent you from training to you full capacity for a while. Here are a few tips to help you keep from tearing:

Get a Foot razor and a pumice at your local drug store (Target is the cheapest we’ve found).

When in the shower, first shave the callouses on your hands gently. No need to do this for time folks, be careful not to over do it.

Use soap and a pumice to smooth them out.

Have nice and smooth hands that rip less and interrupt training less.

If your hands are still excessively tender, consider buying gymnastics straps. We do not recommend any other type of glove as they can cause a loss of grip the the bar.

Thanks to CrossFit Verve, CrossFitPC, Coach Spealler and his team for this.

Keep it real!  Rock on!

Thanksgiving – I’m thankful that CrossFit helped me overcome a Mild Traumatic Brain Injury

Hi y’all!

A big thanks and shout out to Rick Kaselj for his support and posting today on how CrossFit has helped me.

This interview was done a couple years ago.  Since then I’ve gone on to become a Certified CrossFit Instructor and have started my own business Encourage Fitness.  I’ve been working out and instructing at my own box/gym since July 2010.  Our clients range from average joes, to police officers, and excecutives, pastors, domestic goddesses, grandparents, and everyone in between, and range in age from 17 to 56 years young and the results are fantastic!

Having a team that you can trust is a big deal.  Thanks Rick for being part of my team toward an ongoing recovery.

Encourage Fitness WOD (Flight Simulator) – Oct 7, 2011

Congratulations to everyone, you all completed!

Big congrats to Heath that finally learned to skip forward!  When we start skipping, jumping is the fundamental basic movement.  Next is jumping with proper technique, and then single skips with a rope passing under your feet. We become successful with single skips then double unders.  For Heath, he had never skipped before and coordination was an issue.  At first he was successful jumping with the rope backwards and became proficient at it over a month.   Today I helped to use the muscle memory programming to change direction.  We went from jumping about 18 inches at first forward jump, to jumping less than 1 inch with great mechanics!  Next up for Heath is double unders and he is well on his way!  Great mechanics Heath!

Congrats again to everyone!
